Remove Throttle Ratchet Mod

If you unscrew the back of the transmitter (Tx), you will find a metal ribbon behind the throttle stick. And there is usually a V-shape notch on the metal ribbon and contact with the teeth on gear which create the strong friction against your throttle input. And this is good for beginners, as the stick will stay where you hand off.
But some pilots hate this, because sometimes rc helicopter requires very precise throttle input for hovering. Sometimes will be annoyed that 1 click up would rise your heli and 1 click down would make it go down. So, here are few simple modifications to get rid of it.

Sandwich a Plastic Strip

Here’s the Brooks’s DX7 AIR smooth throttle modification. Just cut some strips from plastic transparent packaging, then sandwich between the gears and metal spring. That’ s all!
Alternatively, some may slipped a piece of fuel tubing or heat shrink over the metal.

Upside-down the Ratchet Bar

The DX-7 come with the other bar i.e. the heli version has the ratchet bar in with the accessories package, or at least mine did.
ratchet bar throttle 1 ratchet bar throttle 2 ratchet bar throttle 3
Here’ s a much simple alternative to smooth your ratchet bar, but it may not work on all Tx.
After you unscrew the back of transmitter, locate the ratchet bar and turn it upside-down, then the notch will not work on the teeth, thus reducing the tension much. Or you may just pound the ratchet bar flat.

Dx6i – Smooth to Ratchet

Dx6i came with a spare smooth throttle, but not everyone like it. So, if you want to add ratchet to the throttle, just replace it with the metal ribbon with notch. The metal ribbon came with Dx6i in package and remember put the notch side in touch with the gear.
